Let Us Pray

O God, Who art full of mercy and compassion toward all who call upon Thee, and Who dost not cast away anyone who approaches Thee with confidence and humility, grant that through the intercession of Thy holy virgin, Saint Walburga, we may partake of the plenitude of Thy mercies; help us, that as by Thy special grace we have known and praised Thee, through the holy virgin Walburga, as a God rich in miracles, we may also love and adore Thee as a merciful Father, through Jesus Christ Our Lord.  R. Amen.

St. Walburga, Virgin and Abbess: Born around the year 710, in Devonshire, England, St. Walburga became a Benedictine nun and was sent to help her kinsman, St. Boniface, evangelize the Germans.  She became supreme abbess of the great double monastery of Heidenheim, which had been founded by her brothers, Sts.  Willibald and Winnebald; she wrote St. Winnebald's life.  St. Walburga died in 779, and from the rocks on which her relics rest there exudes even to our day a miraculous oil through which many cures have been granted.  St. Walburga is also known by other names, including Vaubourg, Walpurgis, and Falbourg.
