R. Amen.
St. Walburga, Virgin and Abbess: Born around the year 710, in Devonshire, England, St. Walburga became a Benedictine nun and was sent to help her kinsman, St. Boniface, evangelize the Germans. She became supreme abbess of the great double monastery of Heidenheim, which had been founded by her brothers, Sts. Willibald and Winnebald; she wrote St. Winnebald's life. St. Walburga died in 779, and from the rocks on which her relics rest there exudes even to our day a miraculous oil through which many cures have been granted. St. Walburga is also known by other names, including Vaubourg, Walpurgis, and Falbourg.
