Let Us Pray

        O my God, may the pious commemoration of Saint Anthony, Thy confessor and doctor, give joy to Thy Church, that she may ever be strengthened with Thy spiritual assistance, and merit to attain everlasting joy.  Through Christ Our Lord.  R. Amen.



        St. Anthony of Padua, Wonder- Worker, Patron of Lost Objects, Doctor of the Church, Hammer of Heretics, etc.: Born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195, St. Anthony became a Franciscan priest and then preached with enormous success all over Italy.  He was followed by great crowds and he converted innumerable people.  A saint of angelic purity, he was one of the greatest miracle-workers in the history of the Church.  St. Anthony is also known as "Hammer of Heretics" for his warfare against various forms of Manichaeanism.  St. Anthony died in 1231 and was canonized 11 months later.
