This litany is attributed to Saint John Vianney, the Cure of Ars.

St. Philomena, Martyr: The existence of St. Philomena, an early Roman martyr, came to light when the bones of a young girl, a vial of blood, and an inscription reading “Peace be with you, Philomena” were discovered in St. Priscitia's catacomb in Rome.  In 1805 the remains were moved to the church of Mugnano del Cardinale near Nola, Italy.  Miracles were reported at her tomb, and devotion to her became widespread; her most famous devotee was St. John Vianney, the Cure of Ars.  St. Philomena's cult was authorized in 1837 by Pope Gregory XVI, but her name was dropped from the Roman calendar in 1961, along with several other names, because of a lack of authentic historical information.  However, St. Philomena may still be honored privately.
