Third Day
SALVATION

Introductory Prayer to Mary,
Mother of our Savior.

We salute thee, O Blessed Virgin, Mother of our Savior, who alone of all women hast been found worthy to become the Mother of our Redeemer.  We salute thee, O Cause of our joy, who art the temple of the Most High in which man and God are reconciled.  We salute thee, O Tower of David, in which the sentence of man's doom has been changed into a hope of salvation.  All nations call thee blessed, O Mary most holy, for He that is mighty hath done great things in thee.  We, therefore, confide in thee, O Vessel of honor, for hope in thee is a sign that we will save our souls.  Thy prayers, O Mother of God, are dearer and more precious to us than all the treasures of earth, for they move the hand that moves the world. O Lady of mercy, by thy seven sorrows intercede for us with they Son, whom We have so grievously offended.  Speak one word with Him that He may have mercy on us, on our parents, brothers, and sisters, in order that one day we may be reunited in eternal bliss.

Intention: To walk the way of Salvation.

O Mother of Jesus, when thou didst offer the Infant Saviour to His Eternal Father in the temple, Simeon prophesied that thy own soul a sword shall pierce that from many hearts love may be revealed.  We pray thee, therefore, O Lady of    Sorrows, for the grace to appreciate the great price of our redemption in order that we may never depart from the way of love and salvation.  Moreover, since thou hast saved us from the fires of hell, make us burn with love of God and of our neighbor that we may be consumed as victims of Divine Love.

Prayer for a true devotion to the Sacred
Passion of Jesus and Mary.

O most afflicted of Mothers, O noblest of creatures, by the terrible tortures thou didst endure on Calvary's mount, hear our humble prayer.  Thy Son died upon the cross - thy only Son, the best of sons.  He who loved thee as the best of mothers, has been crucified before thy very eyes.  Weep for thou hast reason to weep.    But, dear Mother of Sorrows, let us share thy grief.  We have more reason than thou to shed bitter tears, for we were the cause of the death of thy Child.  We have grieved thy Immaculate Heart.  Ah! most benign Virgin, obtain for us the gift of tears, that we may weep for our ingratitude toward thee and thy Son.  We would despair of our sins, O Mary, had not Jesus given thee to us as our Mother before He died.  Moreover, we are consoled by the thought that He conquered Satan and reopened paradise for us. O dearest Lady, whom no one has ever invoked in vain, let not the infinite price of His Precious Blood be lost on us.  But obtain for us a continuous remembrance of His Sacred Passion and of the sorrows that pierced thy heart.  Lead us on to a glorious victory over the three great enemies of our soul - the world, with its vanities, the flesh with its shameless lusts, and the devil with his temptations.  Grant all of us, O Mother of our Savior, the spirit of true contrition that we may remain sorry for our sins for the rest of our days.  Amen.

Five Our Fathers and Hail Marys.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired with this confidence we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother.  To thee we come, before thee we stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our words, but graciously hear and grant our prayer.  Amen.
