Sixth Day

Introductory Prayer to Mary,
Mother of Divine Grace.

O Blessed Virgin Mary, O Mother of divine grace, we rejoice at the immense glory with which our Lord has enriched thee.  Who can be compared with thee, O Lily of spotless purity?  Thou art our hope in this valley of tears. O Lady of mercy, do not disdain to turn thy loving eyes upon us, miserable sinners.  Teach us the love of Jesus who dwells among us in the Holy Eucharist.  Bring us closer to Him, for He is our High Priest, our Teacher, and our King. O Mary, thou who art always with Jesus, draw us to Him.  Help us to give Him our tokens of love, to tell Him our needs and ideals, for after Him thou art our best hope, O Lady of the Blessed Sacrament.

Intention:  To know and love the Holy Eucharist.

O Blessed Virgin, Treasurer of God and Dispenser of His graces, by thy Immaculate Conception which makes thee so dear to Jesus, obtain for us the grace to know and love the infinite treasure of the Holy Eucharist.  Teach us that the Holy Mass is not a mere means to bring Jesus to our tabernacles, but that it is a sacrifice most pleasing to the Father.  Help us, O Mother Of sorrows, to offer ourselves with thee and Jesus as victims of love.  Make us realize that at Holy Communion we eat of the life-giving sacrifice in order to be more closely united with the Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world.  And finally, O holiest Virgin, increase our appreciation of the sweet presence of Jesus in the tabernacle that we may never pass the church without visiting or greeting Him.

Prayer for a greater participation in the Liturgy.

O Lady most benign, O Virgin most holy, thou art the Mother of our Eternal High Priest.  When our Heavenly Father was no longer pleased with the animal sacrifices of the Jewish priests, thou didst draw down, as it were, an infinitely more pleasing High Priest, Jesus.  He, by His death, rent the veil of the temple, and entered into the Holy of Holies of Heaven, not which the blood of sheep or oxen, but with His own Precious Blood.  He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father always living to make intercession for US. O Mary, thou knowest that Jesus has set up an eternal priesthood with an eternal sacrifice, which is now offered up throughout the world from the rising of the sun to its setting.  It is the holy sacrifice of the Mass, by which all men of all time may share in His great redeeming sacrifice of Calvary. O Mother, what an opportunity Holy Mass gives us!  By it we give to God infinite adoration, thanksgiving, and satisfaction worthy of Him.  By taking part in the sacred banquet at Holy Communion we can be united with the mystery of the Sacred Passion.  What courage to carry our daily cross it gives us! 'What marvelous strength to overcome temptation this Bread of the Strong imparts!  How this angelic Food elevates our mind above the base things of the earth! O Mother of our Eucharistic King and High Priest, how can we ever neglect to attend Holy Mass just for an empty reason?  How can we gather around the Holy Sacrifice of love and union, without partaking of the Victim on the altar? O Blessed Mother, thou, who art the Lady in the house of God, we resolve to go to Holy Mass and Communion as often as we can, in order to participate more fully in the priesthood of Christ.  Please, O Mother of divine grace, grant us the grace to live up to our resolution, and to be ever grateful for the benefits received from thy Son through our Catholic priesthood and the liturgy. Amen.

Five Our Fathers and Hail Marys.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help or sought thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired with this confidence we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother.  To thee we come, before thee we stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the World Incarnate, despise not our words, but graciously hear and grant our prayer.  Amen.
